No matter your goal, fat loss, improved performance, or building muscle and strength, 60–70% of your results come down to nutrition. Training provides the stimulus, but food is the catalyst that determines how your body responds.
At this stage, the focus is awareness rather than perfection. Tracking your food and drink allows me to see what your current intake looks like so I can guide you more effectively and make informed adjustments as the programme progresses.
Builds awareness around portion sizes and food choices
Highlights patterns that may be helping or hindering progress
Allows nutrition advice to be personalised rather than guessed
Supports consistency without unnecessary restriction
Initially, tracking is used to understand your habits
As adherence improves, you may be given a calorie or protein target
If you use MyFitnessPal, it can be linked directly to the app (just let me know)
The video below walks you through how to track your food and drink step by step. Although the app has had some visual updates since this was filmed, the fundamentals remain the same.
Please watch this even if you are using a different app as the principles covered will still apply.
The aim isn’t to track forever or overcomplicate nutrition, but to build understanding, develop better habits and make smarter choices easier over time.
